I'm currently in Mumbai and need to buy the current India LP. I've been told I can buy one on the streets which will be much cheaper than in a store. Does anyone know where? And...how much they are sold for on the streets? I haven't seen any yet.
Thanks!

i have yet to see a fake/bootlegged copy of an LP. current editions are the originals (or probably they make it as well as the originals) even with the street guys.
The only difference is that you may get 10-15% discount with the street guys over stores such as Crosswords/Oxford.
The main haunt of the street book vendors is at Flora Fountain. (5 min north from colaba. A good pair of legs will cover the distance in 10-12 min walking)
On the north and west side of the fountain you will see the book sellers.

fabmall.com or firstandsecond.com are good online sites to buy books at a discount , on Mumbai streets, unless you are vey lucky , you will mostly find old editions of LP with info which may not be up to date...
Cheers
Rahul

the pricing is standard really for books like LP.
The USD rate multiplied by exchange rate. So it should be around 1000-1200 Rs?
Rahul, The street vendors are just on the streets. But that does not mean they sell substandard stuff. Their knowledge about books (given that they are street vendors and not college educated) would amaze anyone.
There used to be a lot more of these guys on the same sidewalk. For decades now.
But in its infinite wisdom, the City decided to remove these so called illegal hawkers off the streets.
Even now you can get some excellent bargains and some collectors' items here.

hi there! how is mumbai? i am booked to go on sunday! any recommendations on accomodation?

Hey # 5, I'm staying with some friends so I have no clue about accomodation. But Mumbai is awesome. I'm loving it so far. Are you sticking around Mumbai or moving around India? I'm going to Delhi in a couple of days. Any recommendations on accomodation there??

Official Indian price for latest LP India is 990 Rs. You can expect to get a 10% discount from any bookshop.
2 months ago, the latest LP India (new, not second hand) was sold for about 750-800 Rs from street stalls near Flora Fountain in Mumbai.
