Hi, had applied for tourist visa for my wife and kid on 28th Feb'17. It has been almost one month and still status is "Under Process". I don't know what they mean by that. And when would we get the visa. Any such experiences??

@Luckysoni

That seems very unusal.

What citizenship / passport do the three of you hold? Are you or any of your ancestors from Pakistan? Where did you apply? How long did you apply for?

Hi, have applied for 3 months in Mumbai vfs. And are from India by ancestors also.
The condition is I am already on 457 in Australia. And had applied for them on tourist visa.

Okay.

So, you are already in Australia on a 457 visa. Your wife and child are in India, and they have lodged an application for a tourist visa to Australia. Is this correct?

As at yesterday, the High Commission in Delhi was processing applications recieved on 1 March - so they are taking longer than usual.

Given that you are already in Australia, the High Commission will be cautious that your wife and child will not overstay their visas to stay with you in Australia. If your wife does not work and your wife and child are fully dependent on you, then the possibility of overstay increases. By contrast, if your wife has a job in Mumbai and your child is enrolled in school in Mumbai, then they have more reason to return home at the end of their visit.

For the moment, I would not be too concerned about the processing time - it seems to be within current operational conditions.

Good luck - I hope your family can join you soon.

Hi Luckysoni -- I need your help if your Family have received Tourist Visa or not because i am also facing same kind of issue.

lifesupport User, Can you please provide any detailed information if you have why Australian tourist Visas are getting delayed. I am really curious about this as i have never came across such scenarios of delays in Tourist Visas.

Regards,
Ramdeep Singh

Hi Ramdeep, yes I have got it recently. Yes they are taking time as its festival time in aussie. I know its frustrating but Just wait for around one week more. I hope you would have your family soon in there :)

My understanding is that they are recieving a high volume of applications, and subsequently processing times expand. Currently 18 working days - and on Friday 31 March they began assessing applications recieved in the High Commission on 6 March.

Individual cases may be subject to further assessment on the grounds of security, health or character issues or an adverse immigration history.

Hi Luckysoni -- Congrats :)

In my case, actually i am the one who needs Tourist Visa and going to visit my Brother in Law and Sister there.

On which date you received your visa, actually i am trying to analyze when i would get it. My Visa application reached Australian Embassy on 2nd March (means i am already waiting from last 30 days). I had my Airline tickets booked already and now rescheduled them with new Take off date of 8th April,2017.

One more thing, Have you had tried to dig more into this (by contacting VFS office or Australian embassy India) or you have just waited and finally got the email from embassy. I just need your help to know if i need to pressurize VFS staff to contact embassy for delay reasons or just need to wait for it.

Thanks so much for your responses @Luckysoni and @lifesupport. It is really helpful

Regards,
Ramdeep Singh

just need to wait for it.

I think you should just wait. Attending to large volumes of inquiries impacts on the resources the Commission have available to finalise visa applications.

Applications lodged at VFS are generally received at the High Commission within two (2) working days of submission to VFS. Timeframes may vary depending on the distance of the VFS centre from New Delhi and factors such as severe weather conditions, Indian holidays, etc.
