Hello dear Thorntree folks.

I know that somewhere someone has answered this but I am struggling and need help.

I am a UK Citizen in India at the moment. My 6 month visa expires in May so I have to leave. The problem is I like India and would like to return.

My questions are:

1) Must I leave India to apply for another (6 month) Visa.
2) If so, how long for.
3) When I applied for my initial Visa my understanding was that it had to be applied for in my "country of residence" i.e the UK. I don't want to return to the UK so is it possible for me to do a Visa run to either Bangkok, Bangladesh or Nepal?

I would genuinely appreciate any help. I think the rules have changed recently but I need to be sure....

Many many thanks.........

John

  1. Yes
  2. In your case, as long as it takes to get one.
  3. Only sometimes. Kathmandu and Bangkok are popular places to get another visa, though sometimes for only 3 months.
