Hello,
I want to volunteer at an animal
rehabilitation center in Kerala area. Any recommendations for a place that’s legit and does not offer animal rides or chains them up? I originally wanted to go to Wildlife SOS but Agra is a bit too far out from Kerala. Thank you!

Hi. Do you have any special qualifications?

I don't know about Kerala, but MOST animal rehabilitation centers I have experienced in India tend to be more about collecting tourist dollars, rather than taking care of animals. I've been to many programs in North India which seem to have insanely high operating costs, and don't report most of the donations. There are a few good ones though.

Make sure you spend a lot of time to find a good center, and don't be too quick to give them your money.

It is illegal to volunteer on a tourist visa.

Why is it illegal? I’m not earning income from it. In fact, I have to pay to volunteer.
