Can i buy air tickets (domestic) at the airport in Kolkata? i wonder...

yes , you can.There are ticket counters of various airlines at the front.

Most of the airports all over the world has airline's office to sell tickets. In India I have seen/used the counters in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad. I have not visited any other airports in India so can not definitely comment on that.
As far as Kolkata, 100% Yes. Other airports except the above mentioned - Most likely to have.
You will be surprised to note that sometime the IA counters sell the cheapest tickets in the city.
