if he had the same full name as a suspected terrorist, they had every right and in fact an obligation to question him.

the same thing reportedly happened to Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam). in that case though, they denied him entry, despite must having eventually learned that he was the folk singer. that was dumb.

The Economic Times is cool (a friend works there, howdy Ashok). I am just glad even celebrities get the same gobar I often get flying, a classless society. Was really funny to see how Ted Kennedy got it 6 times (ghost of Chappa.)! Its sad though to see it latched upon by people whose emotions & hate have outraced their reason..

I don't know what's worse, some segments of the media for blowing these things out of proportion, or the equally overblown moral indignation shown by some people reacting to the story.

But, I suppose the two go hand in hand: the sensationalist press must know who they're feeding.

Rent-a-mob strikes again....Can we ever forget the fuss about the two bimbos on a crass TV Show? Even the visiting British P.M. was questioned about it .Indians getting wound up about alleged racism... Pot kettle and black... the plank in your own eye..Sayings that spring to mind when witnessing this indignation. The caste system ????

Last time I was in India a Bollywood star was arrested for having an arsenal of assault weapons. Being an actor is no guarantee the person is harmless. Big over reaction. I don't like having to take my shoes off at American airport security checks, but I do it anyway, and I don't scream like a stuck pig.
Chitralguy "but I'd never go to a country where the racism is visible in the society." You live in such a country, and as someone else mentioned, you have very few options of places to visit using that criteria, certainly nowhere near to you. He was detained for a hour, I've had friends "detained" for 3 hours at Heathrow because the security queues are so slow, which is worse?

As videshi points out,SRK is not a global celebrity. In fact he is a star only where there is a huge Indian diaspora. The average American wouldnt have a clue as to who he is.And even if they knew,if they authorities have enough reason to question him, then, they should as a matter of national security.BTW what did he have to say about this?Did he fuel any of this,I really dont know him but to me he isnt that type.
I can understand why many Indians would take offence at this but isnt burning the American flag a bit too much??I am neither American nor Indian, that's why I can look at it from a distance.Maybe my reaction would be totally different if I was either.

If people from UK, USA burnt the indian flag everytime a corrupt indian cop bribes them for money, puts them in prison genrally scams them then the flag sellers would be rich

# 17,

It is the fire that is also lit by CIA and other imperialist powers, that want control of the area, too many people want that piece of cake, from U.S to French Sarkozy and even Chinese, that is very much political but what abut the Gaza, Palestine, thousands have been killed in the name of protection of an illegitimate Zionist state. the time has come to come out of controversies and mend the ways, whatever the U.S and the Western World have done to the world in past. either Baghdad and Kabul.

I don't agree with Videshi, having a name on the list of yankees, an Al-Qaeda or taliban operative, as Shah Rukh Khan, that is impossible, they are playing with us, with our sentiments.

The yankees bombed a madrassa in Bajaur agency (tribal areas) of Pakistan, they killed some 83 students, 13 to 16 years, and they pretended, there were Al-Qaeda operatives were hidden inside.

We have seen CIA intelligence on the issue of Iraq, the hidden weapons then Al-Qaeda and now the mess they have left in Afghanistan, the civilians they have killed, they will have to pay that someday, yankees are playing with fire along with their stolid allies.

what about saddam and his cronies - what the US has done pales into insignificance.

i'm not a fan of US foreign policy, but to focus exclusively on it and close your eyes to other crimes against iraqis - to take but one example - raises questions about bias.

none of which has anything to do with SRK's being delayed at the airport.
