While travelling in Dhaka city, you can add this places in your scheduled plan :
New Market ; One of the most interesting place in Dhaka still unknown to the tourist, In the second & Third floor of New market, there are alot of shops where they are working Block Printing work in clothes. you can see the people working with do many different colors man and woman together, People are very friendly and you can talk picture (Specially for the Photographers it would be a good place to visit)…
This question is about Dhaka. I first admit that my only experience of auto-rickshaws is from Delhi. A trip to the airport in Delhi will leave you "with your teeth chattering" as an old LP guide says. The ride is bumpy, rough and slow.
We will have only hand luggage arriving at Dhaka airport. The advice is to walk out of the airport to the street and negotiate a ride. I assume four-wheel taxis would NOT be available there, since they are reportedly rare in Dhaka? I can certainly get a car from…
My partner and I are travelling through Bangladesh in early January and will need access to the internet to enrol online in our University courses. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about the availability of internet in Bangladesh? Is it only mainly available in Dhaka or can it be accessed elsewhere? The Lonely Planet guide I have is several years old so may not be up to date especially given the advances in technology world wide in the past few years.
Any tips or advice is appreciated…
I am currently in Dhaka, planning to exit by land at Tamabil to Meghalaya in a few days. Is there still a 300Tk tax to pay, and, if so, is there a bank in Dhaka where I can pay it. I will not be long in Sylhet to find the bank there.
thanks
harry
I know India in some cases treats people born in neighboring countries differently even if they now have US or other passports.
Without getting into a debate about whether this is justified, I wanted to ask if I might be unqualified for a Bangladeshi VOA due to having been born in India. Additionally I am an 'Overseas citizen of India', but that is not really citizenship, only an unlimited visa.
I will be arriving in Bangladesh on 23/1 for 3 weeks and although I have a friend to stay with in Dhaka for a few days, I would be interested in hooking up with someone to do some touring around. Or otherwise organising a 'chaperone' for a fee. Will anyone be travelling around at that time? or know someone who is 'reputable' to act as a chaperone? I have been advised that travelling solo outside of Dhaka is not safe, and this by a female who travels to Bangladesh regularly and whose family…
Hello,
i need some information about entering Bangladesh.
I will be in India in february,Sikkim state,so can i enter Bangladesh from that side?does anyone knows where is the point of entry there?
I am from CROATIA/Europe,so can i get VISA on that border?i have sent email to their embassy in NEW DELHI but no response?

I read that tickets for the Dhaka-Kolkata train are sold only at the Kamalapur station, and one is expected to turn up in person with passport and visa.
We are not going to be able to do this until two days before the date of the train trip (Dec 26). I know the train has not been full in the past because of the border hassle, but I also heard that things are more efficient now, plus it is vacation season. In other words, maybe there's some possibility that tickets will be gone.
Any chance that…
In Sylhet we met up with Liton Deb, who posts on this forum, and he proved an efficient and highly resourceful guide for our trip to Tanguar Haor.En route to Sunamganj we stopped at Pagla mosque, a 150 year old mosque built by Indian merchants, with a nicely decorated mosaic roof and interior. On arrival in Sunamgonj we visited Gororong Rajbari. It took about 1 ½ hrs for the return trip, taking a CNG a ferry then another CNG. The rajbari is in a…
