We also visited Masterpara where some tribal families live. We took many pics with them, but first time they did not agree, They felt shy. Now all people are very cooperative specially tribal people. Bangalees who have been living since last one more decades seem very positive attitude to all tribes except some…

Hello everyone! I'll be on my way to Bangladesh in just a few days and I'm planning to get a visa on arrival (I'm American). Question is: I will fly to Chittagong from Sharjah on Air Arabia. I know it is possible for Americans to get a visa on arrival in Dhaka, but is this also the case in Chittagong? I would hate to get turned back to Dubai!

Thanks for your help, and if anyone else is traveling about Bangladesh at the moment I would love to meet up with some locals / fellow backpackers.

Now it is very difficult for foreigners to get Indian visa in Dhaka. Lase week a met 3 swiss travellers who were refused to give visa. The authority did not show any reason. Just said No.

I sent them Indian visa ofce in Chittagong n luckly they got the visa. So, please try to take Indian visa from your country to avoid hassle.

Other hand, if u are rejected in Dhaka, try ur luck in Chittagong.

Two of us are travelling to Bangladesh for the England cricket tour in March.

We arrive in Dhaka on the 8th March 2010, staying at the Hotel Pacific in Old Dhaka, before leaving for Chittagong on the 10th March 2010.

Any advice on tour guides, tours of Dhaka for a day and a half - what to see and do would be greatly appreciated. What is the best and safest way to travel around Dhaka (CNG?)?

We leave Dhaka for Chittagong on Wednesday 10th March 2010 hopefully on the 7.00am train; how easy is…

Hey, I am going to be living in India for a year for school, and will have several breaks to travel. On one of the breaks I would like to travel to Bangladesh and volunteer. I will have between one and two weeks to volunteer (hopefully 2). Does anyone know of any organizations that take people for short time periods? I have experience working with women, microfinance, development, and also have presentation and sexual health educator experience, if that opens up any doors...

Hi again,

As I mentioned before we are travelling to Dhaka to see the test match and whilst we are in Dhaka, it will be my husband's birthday. I'd like to take him out for a really special dinner and thought I'd ask, what do you think is the best restaurant in Dhaka?

The main thing I'd like is that it's a Bangladeshi restaurant (in terms of cuisine) - other than that, it's all about how good the food is!

Look forward to hearing if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks,
Smoutie.
