hello everybody

i plan to travel to bangladesh in the monsoon season june/july, and there came up several questions. it would be nice if anybody could give an answer to either of them:

1) are many places in bangladesh commonly flooded this time of the year june july?
2) if not so, are occuring downpours limiting the joy of getting around especially to smaller places?
3) i plan to travel on my own (m,27).how is the security situation compared to- lets say - india? is it possible travel around (also to smaller places) without running the risk of being subject to crime delicts (e.g. getting things stolen, being robbed, or being harassed for ethnical reasons)?
4) is it likely that i have a big struggle with limited tourist facilities? is there always timesoaking effort needed, when trying to purchase boat/bus-tickets, hotelrooms, meals at restorants ...?

Thanks for your question.

  1. Usally july last-August-first september commonly flooded.

  2. Usally not problem to go smaller places during this, except some exceptional.

  3. I believe that security situation is more than good of India; but after evening try to avoid move alone.

  4. Will not face any problem to purchase the facilities.

  1. There hasn't been any major floods in years, however, it does get a bit soggy during the monsoon season.

  2. Depending on where exactly you want to go, some places are closer to the sea level than others, add to that, infrastructure is more developed in certain regions than others.

  3. Regarding security, just take normal precautionary measures as you would, whilst travelling. I wouldn't go that far as terming it as dangerous as India or any of the other places in the region. There are no major ethic issues, however, poverty is widespread, so take precaution with your valuables. I do beg to differ with the previous post, you can go about alone in the evenings. Just be extra vigilant!

  4. Accommodation and food shouldn't be a problem, and you get what you pay for. Food is amazing, even the street food, but the accommodation options would vary with price. Travel arrangements will consume your time, unfortunately!

It is a place worth visiting, if I'd say so myself! Gute Reise!
