Bangladesh government charges visa applicants to Bangladesh the same fee their government charges Bangladeshis to get a visa for their country. This is why Bangladeshi visas cost so much for Australians. While this policy is fair in some level, it is a little counter productive to say the least.

Have any Aussies gotten their VOA in the past few months?

I'm living in Japan. There is an embassy in Tokyo but that's pretty far from me!

Re: Visa fee.

AFAIK, the visa fees are usually reciprocal. If the Australian High Commission charges $150 for visa fees, then BD high commissions will charge the reciprocal amount for the Australians.

I don't know about other EU-passports, but I paid 70€ for a visa here in Sweden. Supposedly the fee used to be only 25€. Not that I am whining about it, but just for the record.

Funny thing is, they also seem to have relaxed requirements on the necessary paperwork as some kind of "compensation" for the increased fee. For tourist visa, all one needs is a filled in application form and passport sized photos. I even got a multiple visa issued, even though i only requested single entry.

Hi Mahmud,
Just checking, that the information you provided here about VoA for Australian passport holders is still valid. I really like Bangladesh but it is a hassle to get a visa- particularly because as an Australian citizen I have to send my passport from New Zealand to Canberra every time. Thanks Doug
