(a) Guidebook says arrive soon after 7am for 8:10am departure. We'd like to get as much sleep as possible! Is that long lead time really needed (i.e. is there another layer of immigration, Customs, etc at the cantonment station)?

(b) What food is available on the train? (I believe there are no official stops, so getting food from platforms is out.) I read in some web article about fried chicken being served while in BD, and cutlets when in India, but a normal daal-bhaat lunch would be nice. If it is fried foods or nothing, we'll carry lunch with us.

Many thanks,

a. No there i no immigration or customs activities in Cantonment station. But there remains big queue to enter inside the station.

I think if you arrive 7.30 am sharp (consider traffic jam in Banani area), that will be O.K for you.

b. You will find Burgers, Chicken fries, Cutlets, cakes, Butter Toast, cheaps and these kind of dry food. Also available Tea, coffee, soft drinks, bottle juice. No rice or curry in the train.

So, if you want, carry some food as per your wish.

Thank you once more for your help!

It seems you don't answer followup questions in the same thread, but I'll try: will there really be a traffic jam in Banani at 7:30a?

Usually I try to response if I see the inquiry. But may be I missed it.

Reg ur question, why 7.30? If u need to reach station at 7.30 am, you must start 6.50 am sharp. No,there would be no traffic jam.but itvwill take around half an hour to reach the station.

Ok, I was thinking 6:30 start from Motijheel. I was just worried, when you said 'traffic jam in Banani', that I should allow 2-3 hours.
