Can anyone tell me what the latest is on applying for Indian visas in Dhaka?

I'm hoping to get a multi entry, and really can't settle for anything less than a double entry due to the fact that Im planning to visit Sri Lanka after Bangladesh, via India and then return back to India. Sri Lanka is apparently a very difficult place to get an Indian visa nowadays, so I am hoping to obtain the double entry/multi entry visa in Dhaka and not need to get a new one in Columbo if possible.

Any recent details at all regarding length of Indian visas being issued and number of entries and how open to negotiation the embassy staff are in Dhaka...would be much appreciated.

My nationality is Australian.

Thanks

A fair number of reports are coming in of the authorities being a pain about multiple entry visas just now and some being refused another single entry visa without a one month gap..

Though I'm a Bangladeshi I will suggest u to take Indian Visa from your place.because the embassy staffs are not at all friendly & even we get harrassed when taking Indian visas in recent time..

Good comment #2. That is that staff's reputation. They also have an odd penchant for refusing travelers who obtained a Bangladeshi landing permit at the airport instead of a visa..

forget about getting a multiple entry visa from indian embassy if you are not working in bangladesh or in any long term bangaldeshi visa.

I'm also wanting to know if it's possible for an Australian to get a single entry Indian tourist visa in Dhaka and how long it takes. Unfortunately i've run out of time to do it in Australia.

I would also like to know how simple it is to get a single-entry six month visa, for a Brit. Thanks!

I don't know of any country specific impediment..

And is it a straight forward affair? Do the staff speak English?

Yes but they are known to be rude. If you have a Bangladesh landing permit insstead of a Bangladesh visa obtained abroad they may refuse a visa. That is the only place where the staff do this as far as I know..
