hello everybody,
as we think that bangladesh is a very of-the-beaten-track country, we thought this would be the right experience, somehow strange and also gripping.
me and my girlfriend, both students from germany, thought about visiting bangladesh in late june and stay for a month.
now i have three questions:

1) is it easy to find an english speaking guide? (rather just to accompany us forseveral days at the beginning, propably teach us some customs and a few words bangla, not neccessarily planning our itineraries)

2) what is better: fly to dhaka or colcatta?

3) budget: 1200$ /person & month ok?

it would be nice if someone could help us. i know much of the information is in the net, but maybe someone who has been to bangladesh can give us first hand information.

god bless you all mike

Hi, thanks for ur interest to visit bangladesh.

  1. If u try, i think u can get. I know some ameture english speaking guides who did well earlier. U can hire them for initila 3-4 days n later travel ur own.

  2. If U want to fly, gmg or jet air is the best option. Also can use buses as the road is good. It takes 10 hours n the fare is usd 14

  3. if u r budjet usd 800 is enough.

If u need any specific info, let me know.

You have the best guide who just replied to your post Mike ! Though he dont want to be a guide he is the best you can try. But I am sure he will recommend you someone trustworthy !

Now for some mathematics :

1200 USD x Taka 68.50 = Taka 82,200
82,200 / 30 = Taka 2,740 per person per day which is largely sufficient for BD !

If you are going to India also then you can bus from Calcutta to India. But if you not thinking of India then fly direct to Dhaka.

Most welcome to Bangladesh.

Q-1: You can hire a good English speaking guide for your first week trip with a price of $ 25-30. After that you can move yours own. During your trip with guide; he can give you some advantage for saving your money and time.

Q-2: If come from germany then use some middle east carrier i.e. Emirates, Etihad, Gulf or Qatar airway for fly to Dhaka. Other hands if come from Kolkata, India then take interesting train trip or direct bus to Dhaka. Usally train journey take two hours more time.

Q-3: USD 800-1000 is enough for a month/person budget hotel+food.
