If anyone has crossed from Georgia to Azerbaijan recently on the Tbilisi - Baku train, could you let me know what your experience of the Azeri customs and border guards was? I have an NK visa in one of my passports, but not the one I will be entering Azerbaijan on. How thoroughly do they check your bags and pockets etc? If it's anything like the Tbilisi - Yerevan crossing this shouldn't be a problem, but I'm worried they may be more thorough entering Az.

I will be crossing from Kyrgystan into Pakistan via Kashgar in the last week of August / first week of September, intending to travel down to the Indian boarder at Lahore fairly quickly (spending as little time as possible in Pakistan). Anyone else have similar plans? It would be great to have others to travel with (/share costs) through Pakistan.

Can anybody confirm or deny Indian restaurants in Tashkent? How about anything else veggie friendly? There are two listed in the last edition of LP, but that info is 4 years old and let us down in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

I was wondering if anybody knows if Canadian passport holders need an LOI to apply for a visa for independent travel to Tajikistan and what the turnaround time (24 hours, 48 hours, etc.) is for visa applications at the Tajik Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Any information would be appreciated.

Hello to all,I am looking for a place to stay in Tashkent as I am coming in late evening I would like to arrange a place ahead of time.
I am looking for something well located (more or less central),clean and comfy,with a fan and in room toilet and shower.Also like left luggage facilities.
Would also appreciate friendly and helpful staff.
