Friend and I aim to rent a taxi for the day of Monday 25 August to first see a few forts, then head up to Nukus to see the Savitsky museum in the afternoon.

I am travelling to Uzbekistan in few days. Starting in Khiva (arriving in Urgench) on 06th Sep. and moving eastwards....no fixed route yet, but my idea is to visit the far south east (Qarshi, Termez, etc.) together with Bukara, Samarkand, etc.
My only concern is the transfers between cities. I would like to do it mostly by public transport (shared taxi, bus, trains....)
For example: which is the best option to connect Khiva and Bukhara??

Dear all,

we are going to UZ in 2,5 weeks and I have just one question left:
We have a direct flight from Europe to Urgench and arrive there at about 20:00 saturday evening. We planned to go directly to Khiva an sleep there (we already reserved a B&B). What about money changing? According to our guide book it's not possible during the weekend in Khiva. Is this right? If yes, are there posibilities at the airport in Urgench?

I read that the airport check upon arrival in Tashkent takes a very long time.

I should arrive at 01.30 am and after 6 hours I have a domestic flight from Tashkent to Nukus ( 07.00 am next september).

do you think it' s enough time for the arrivals formalities and the domestic check-in ?

In 2012, I was Lucky to travel during one month through Uzbekistan. I keep fond memories about my stay there. It was really a nice experience to me to discover their precious art and monuments, and to meet all those nice and intersting people.
I have a very strange question, I know :o)
When I was there, I travelled in a shared taxi, with a driver who liked a song very much and let me hear it all along the drive :o) But he didn't know the name of the singer or the title of the song…

Hi - I understand that if I fly Uzbekistan Airways to Bangkok and have a layover in Uzbekistan, even for an hour or two, then I need to get a visa. Is this true? Any tips appreciated. Thanks!
