Boysun

Hi again,
I've read that some of you have advised to go to Boysun. It would be my intention too but I'm a little worried about the accommodation situation in the area as the only existing hotel seems to be one that is best avoided.

Could you guys who have been there tell me how you managed? Is it conceivable to make it a day return trip from Shakhrisabz?

Many tahnks.

uzbek visa

We are from Australia, there are no Central Asian Embassies here so we have obtained LOI from Stantours. We will be flying to Bishkek straight from Tashkent upon our arrival. We will only be travelling in Uzbek on our return from Krygyzstan.
Would you suggest we get our Uzbek visas from the Tashkent airport or from Bishkek while we are there? Many thanks

We are traveling in Uzbekistan and Western China next spring. With the unrest in Ferghana Valley it is unwise to plan travel through there, which is the most popular way to get between the two countries. Flights between Tashkent and Urumqi are no longer scheduled. We can go Uz to China, or China to Uz, whichever way is more predictable or even possible. The problem in the Valley is occuring now and it has in the past but we don't know what it will be like in the spring, which makes planning…

Dollar notes

Hi everybody,
I keep on reading that you have to carry new dollar notes otherwise they won't be accepted. Does this simply mean that they must not be too worn out or that they must have been issued starting from a specific year (I have some 1990 100 dollar notes: will they do?).
Thanks.

Hi,

We just got our Uzbek visas in Bishkek. It was SUPER easy - way easier than in Almaty. The embassy there is a total mess, people waiting around for hours and hours and finally not being let in. In Bishkek we simply walked up handed the lady our LOIs and we were done in 15 minutes with new visas to Uzbek. No problems. Without an LOI it'll take longer (a few days - but I can't be sure aout that - and it seemed they were asking for LOIs from people who didn't need them) so take a few days…

Me and a friend are currently in Tehran and were planning on obtaining our Uzbek visas tomorrow (or at least starting the process) then allowing us to leave Tehran. I have my LOI from stantours, however my friend who applied much later, though was still promised the LOI by the 23 July, has not yet received his.

We are both British passport holders and would like to know of anyone's recent experiences with the Uzbek embassy here in Tehran. Is a LOI DEFINITELY required for British passport…
