We are going to visit Uzbekistan and we will apply for the visas at the Uzbek embassy in Bishek, Kyrgysztan. We travel with Spanish passport and we will leave on Sunday (22) evening.

Does anybody know, or have any experience, about this. How long to get the visa, any special requirement or document needed? Are they cooperative or reluctant to issue visas? How much the visa (the shorter, for a two weeks trip) costs? Do they provide a receipt while the passport is in their hands (mostly for police controls and similar, we will have photocopies only)?

Many thanks for any input you may provide.

Firstly, the Uzbek Embassy in Bishkek is one of the least user friendly i have even used. Firstly, you have to call and set up an appointment. They will full-on refuse to try in English and they are quickly impatient with broken Russian/Uzbek. Luckily, the hotels and hostels in town can help with the call.

How quickly they process depends on whether you need an LOI or not. As a Canadian, i need an LOI for Uzbekistan which i got through StanTours. With the LOI in hand, the embassy will issue the visa in about 5 minutes. I'm not sure how long they take for non-LOI applicants.
