We're of Dutch and German nationality and would like to travel from Turkey to Iran -Afghanistan- Uzbekistan. Is it possible to get the Uzbek visa en route? What's the best place for this?

As you need the Letter of Invitation to get the visa for Uzbekistan, take a note that the process takes 7...10 business days and after in the Embassy it will take 1...2 days, day off are Sat and Sun

Counting these number of days, you can decide where to apply for Uzbek Visa.

The consulate in Mazar would be one possibility but you may well need a letter of invitation when applying there, even though you are exempt when applying in your countries of citizenship.

Blackberry, what do you mean with "the letter of invitation takes 7 - 10 business days"? Are there reputed agencies to ask for that letter? And is it possible to do it cheaply? I googled and the first price that came up was 90 dollars. That's very steep.
