My friend and I are planning a trip to Uzbekistan in July.

In other countries needing a letter of invitation for the visa application, a letter from a hotel would suffice. We have tried doing the reservation interest form on the hotels' websites but we have gotten no replies. We even called one hotel and was told to send an email. How can you make reservations in advance?

Also, in regards to the visa, we saw a price of $60 (US) but then another price of $160 - with a 10 day turn around. What's the story here? I tried emailing the consulate in Washington; didn't receive a clear response and was told to call during a certain time during the day. When I did, no one answered and the mailbox was full.

Any advice you can offer would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Eileen

The embassy in the USA clearly says the visa is $60. A hotel letter will not suffice. It has to be a LOI from a travel agency, although some hotels may be able to do this.

Hi
Im going to Uzbekistan this friday and the temperatures are 40º Celsius, I highly recommend you to go in september, july and agugust will be crazy hot.

To book a hotel you can use agencies or try to get the email of the hotel ant write them directly so you can avoid taxes from the agencies (minimun $10 per pax)

have fun

Get a LOI from a travelagency and forget about the hotels. The travelagencies can support you with the papers. Some agencies demand a tour but Stantours dont.

If you are an American citizen you DO NOT need an LOI.

I would not go in July either, it is going to be very hot.

If you made online reservations, they probably have it. I made some reservations in Russia and tried emailing and calling and got no response, but when I showed up, they had the reservations.
