Has anyone taken and/or recommends the train system in Uzbekistan? What's it like and is it extensive? Prices? I'm assuming it at least connects Tashkent-Samarqand-Bukhara.

Also, I thought I read there's a new high speed rail line that has just opened... has anyone taken this? Comments?

I took the fast train from Samarkand to Tashkent on Tuesday. It only goes between these two towns once a day. Speed varies. Max 220 km/h which it keeps only a short while - keeps 160 km/h most of the time. A new train just imported from Spain. Time 2 h 38 m - fare 45000 local currency - (23 USD). Interesting.
