Hello,
My husband and I will be traveling to Uzbekistan in October and would like to get a flight from Tashkent to Urgench. How much do the tickets usually run? Is it best to book these tickets online before arriving in Tashkent or is it better to book the day we plan to leave? Which website do you recommend?

We're also open to taking the train, however LP says only the slower trains make it out to Urgench/Khiva. Has anybody any news on whether the new high speed trains make it out there yet?

Thanks in advance for your help.

As far as I know the high speed train only takes you to Samarkand - departure around 10 am. When we flew to Nukus the flight to Urgench was the one with the biggest plane - and in the peak season I imagine it will be impossible to buy a ticket the day you want to go. I think we paid about 70 USD for our flight, so I imagine Urgench will be about the same.

Enjoy your trip!

I paid 88 $ last year for Urgench to Tashkent. Bought the ticket at the airport. They demanded cash $. There is a train at least to urgench, maybe all the way to Nukus. Takes 24 hours or so.

keep in mind that on this route operate diffrent aircraft, including Il-114 which is very rare (Uzbekistan Airlines is one of a few airlies that uses this planes) and flight can be really excitement

China Southern operates this flight direct again (it disappeared for a while) on Fridays only. If that fits your schedule you can buy a ticket on their website.

It is correct that some flights are with Illushins; 8 out of 22 weekly flights - if you fly seven in the morning (noy Mondays) you will have an Airbus. Have a nice flight. (Even Russian planes tend to bring people to their destinations)

My apologies for #5, somehow I thought this was a Tashkent-Urumqi question. Tickets from TAS to Urgench run about $80 USD on Uzbekistan Airways

Here's some info on the train (No 56 is the one you're looking for):

I don't think you can buy tickets for it before arrival in Uzbekistan though, unless you go through a tour operator.

Cheers,
Malte.
