Hi. I'll be in Tashkent for a couple of days in August. Do you guys have any recommendations for:

  1. inexpensive but good food (that hopefully will not make me sick) that are not in the LP? Any kind of food - I am open to try it. I believe I am staying near Amir Timur Square, but of course willing to travel...

  2. places to get a cup of coffee to feed my addiction (the LP said there was a place in the Mir food court, is it still there?)

  3. can we take photos of subway stations?

TIA!

food is everywhere, i can't really recommend one over the other as i am the furthest thing from a gourmet. But as for the subway, it is illegal to take pictures. All stations are guarded and they will stop you and could make life difficult if you try. Some people manage to do it James Bond style (including myself, shhhhh don't tell anyone) but it's the only way.

thanks fluffy bunny, you have confirmed what I expected re the subway. (I also just clicked on your link and saw your James Bond photo from the subway!) Also, I don't require gourmet food, just something decent to eat ....
Is it safe to eat salads? the LP warned against washed veggies, but they always do ...
