Hi all,

I just read on the Web that there might be departure tax of USD10.

Can someone who has recently got out of the airport tell me this is true?

Any other annoyances/obstacles I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance,
Tez

I left Tashkent on May 29, there was no departure Tax at all; I never heard rumors about that.
We never had any problems, we were only once checked in the Metro by Police; we showed a copy of passport and Visa; they also wanted the daypack to be opend.
No road control!

I have never had to pay departure tax at Tashkent Airport.
The only major annoyance I encountered were the rouge/dishonest taxi drivers. Always agree a price BEFORE getting in the taxi as some of them have have a habit of literally doubling the price when you reach your destination and blame the "misunderstanding" on the passenger!! Stand your ground with them and keep your bags with you so that you can leave the taxi quickly and easily WITHOUT having to pay double the agreed fair. Just get out quick and don't stay to argue.

I can't agree about the taxidrivers.
Sure first agree on the price!
But we had many drivers which offered a fair deal without any negotiating:some tried to get a bit more first but none was really overpriced. Its more likely if you howl down a car at the road, they don't understand exactly where you want to go and either they refuse to take you or they drive you around for peanuts, then asking you to get off the car without paying anything, as they do not find the place.
To compare, I very seldom use a taxi in my hometown Munich, but I was cheated twice when doing so in the last year, every time a trip from/to a hospital within a hurry and no time to react!
