Anybody have up to date information on getting a visa for China from the consulate in Tashkent (UK passport)? Rumours are it is difficult / impossible at the moment. Anything more substantial than rumours? I have done a search, but found nothing recent. I have contacted the embassy with no result. Any information gratefully received.
Cheers.

I think you need to walk in the Tashkent China Embassy and check.

Get your China visa in Bishkek. We were denied in Tashkent 3 weeks ago. We are on Aussie passports.

i was with a swiss guy who tried in tashkent through a tour operator, after a week of the tour agent taking on the case, they then said to him it wasnt possible. he used someone out of the lp guide book. However i did go to the embassy and saw there is a list of tour operators in the window of the embassy, maybe you have to go through these operators. the list in in uzbek and has phone numbers, i did have it verified that they were indeed tour operators.
two guys at my hostel are trying independently today.
my advice is to try in bishkek and everyone is pointing me there.

If applying from Tashkent, get there really early, and don't expect anyone to keep the que. I applyed about two weeks ago. They told me that I could get the visa if I was flying from Uzbekistan, but that it is chinese policy that they can only issue a visa one country before entering China, and as I was doing an overland, I had to get it in Kyrgizstan instead.
