Samarkand - Penjikent - Dushanbe? what are the latest news? if not, what is the best alternative for now?

Border in Penjikend is still closed. Alternatives are Oybek (near Tashkent) or Sariosiyo (close to Termez).
ATM in Tashkent? You're joking :-). Only in big banks and big hotels in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara.

Aleksey, Hi!

Border near Sariosiyo, you mean the border on the M41? Let's say from Denau to Dushanbe?
Do you have any information of the best to go from Dushanbe to Khorog?

Thanks. RvdH

#3 You have two choices: an EXTREMELY unreliable flight (in 10 days I didn't see a single playing departing/arriving to Khorog) or going to the Badakshanskaya avtostansiya in the southern part of Dushanbe and choose between tens of 4WDs who depart to Khorog every day; the price is set at 300 somoni per person (May 2012) and it took me between 13 and 15 hours on a pretty rough road.
