I'm really keen to visit the Baisun area south of Samarkand. Has anyone done the rail journey from Bukhara through the Iron Gates on the way to Termez? I could hop off in Baisun but wonder if to go by train or coach.
Also, is the trip from Tashkent to Urgench (for Khiva) worth doing during the day to enjoy the landscape? Or is it is better to just catch the night train – is it safe? - or a flight? And how long is the train journey Samarkand-Tashkent?
