U may find this question strange but I'm intending to visit uzb this year and maybe the year after
If I do get a sim from Ucell, can i keep it for the next year? And can i use it out of uzb to recieve calls and uzb? if so would receiving calls and sms outside uzb be free?

I think you do can keep a sim from Ucell and even more than one year. But I'm not sure about international calls, I guess you should switch on roaming for that. I think the company operators can answer this question more clearly or you can search for that information on their web-site (http://ucell.uz/)

P.S. You're welcome! But why in russian?

Just want know is there any limit of money I could bring into UZ? I wonder if too much cash (yet necessary for one month travle) will arouse custom's attention!

As far as I know, there's no limit for money you bring with you into Uzbekistan. But the amount of money you're taking from Uzbekistan should not exceed 2,000 USD.

Number 3 -- Note that the customs controls on currency export are quite strict. Make sure you declare all the currency you are carrying both when you enter and exit the country. Foreigners do not have a limit of $2000 on exporting foreign currency. However, the amount you carry out should be no more than the amount you declared when you entered, unless you can show receipts for how you obtained the extra amount.

If you decide to hide some of your cash, make sure you can hide it in a way that experienced customs officers cannot find it, because when they do find it they can legally hold you for questioning and impose a fine for breaking the law. There are many reports of this on TT.

Hello,

We are visiting from 9/6 to 9/13 and traveling to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. We are members of a Silk Road music project here in Japan. One of our reasons to visit Uzbekistan is our love and interest in Uzbek traditional music.

Can you recommend a good place in Samarkand or Tashkent to find true music instruments, not tourist level, but student or semi-professional level music instruments? Also any suggestions for hearing local traditional music other than the tourist spots?

very best from Japan.

Hi!

I don't know much about Samarkand, but in Tashkent you can find uzbek traditional music instruments near Chorsu market (there're 2 shops and you can find almost every kind of traditional music instruments) and also near Chilonzor underground station (here you can find not only traditional but also modern ones). I recommend you the first one (Chorsu), because it is in the old part of the city and you can also see uzbek traditonal houses, markets, mosques, etc. The only place I know where you can hear traditional music is Tashkent Conservatory (near Pakhtakor underground station). If I find something else, I'll let you know.

Best regards,

Sardor

Hello, Sardor!

I'm planning to go to Uzbekistan (Tashk, Sum, Bukh, Khiva) in November, the first half of it, I guess. I was wondering how cold it gets there in day time? I know I should take some warm clothes, but is it really that cold? Like, do I have to wear a coat even in day time? How often does it rain in November? Is it still comfortable to walk and visit places?
Plus, I'm a photographer and I wanted to take some really nice pictures there. Any advice on the places to go? :)
Thanks a lot!
