Aral Sea - Anyone want to share the jeep costs?

Hi,

I'm going to be in Nukus and want to go up to Moynaq and then get a ride to the shoreline of the Aral Sea. I plan to do the trip around 3/4/5/6/7 October, I'm flexible but my Uzbek Visa runs out on the 9th so I'll need to hightail it back to the Kyrgyzstan border a couple of days before that. I could alternatively head from Tashkent on the train and do it on or around the 27th September too, then work my way back towards the Kyrgyzstan.

The cost it seems is $400-450 for the car, I can't afford to do this by myself so I'm hoping to hook up with people who want to do the trip also.

Hi Tom,

I was in Nukus last month and although I didn't go to Aral, the taxi driver kept offering to do an overnight trip to Moynaq and the Sea for around $120. Again, I have no details - but if you can't get through with someone it might be worth trying!

Good luck! Uzbekistan is incredible!

Hi, to update myself and another traveller (so 1 guy, 1 girl) are getting the overnight train to Nukus from Tashkent on Saturday 27th September and hoping to do the Aral Sea excursion on the Sunday or Monday night.. if anyone is interested please let us know!

OK so now we have 3 people, if anyone else is interested theres one place left. It'll work out at around $150 dollars for 2 days.. we're leaving Monday morning so let me know or email jipek_hotel at rambler dot ru because I may or may not have wifi in Nukus.
