I'll be traveling to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan later in the year. I won't be using wifi that much and prefer to use a book as a guide. The book I've bought is a Lonely PLanet guide of all of Central Asia, in Turkmenistan I'll be going with a tour group but in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan I'll be travelling on my own.

I was wondering would any of these countries mainly Turkmenistan have a problem with taking in a guide?

You can use and read a guidebook in Central Asia.
You will not be the only one to do that...

Hi Farrow, I've just returned from all three countries and had your same concern about taking a travel guide to Turkmenistan especially, but no problems at all in that regard. The only worry I had was coming into Uzbekistan as they are very strict on medicines and searched my first aid kit thoroughly. Paracetamol is ok, but anything else and you could get into trouble so worth baring in mind.

Cheers,
Steve
