I'm looking at a flight to Tashkent that lands at half past three in the morning. How difficult would it be to find a taxi and check in to a hotel at that time? Cheers.
My flight to Tashkent landed at a similar time and there was definitely no shortage of taxis available at the airport. You will be surrounded by taxi drivers as soon as you emerge into the "Arrivals" area. Most of them are extremely persistent AND quote ridiculous prices for a ride into town..It's best to agree on the price BEFORE getting in the taxi as it's not uncommon for fares to suddenly double as soon as the passenger arrives at his/her destination and for drivers to turn nasty when passengers refuse to pay the doubled fare. Best to keep your bags with you (not in the boot of the car) so that you can quickly jump out of the taxi after paying the pre-agreed fare, the driver would be unlikely to abandon his car and chase you for any further money he claims you "owe" him! He would give up and move on to an easier target. I had no problems with my hotel check-in being in the early hours of the morning, most hotels have 24-hour check in as, for some reason, most flights from the West to Tashkent seem to land at very unsociable hours so hoteliers are very used to this! | 1
Good to know some things are the same the world over. Thanks | 2
To be on the safe, you my consider booking a hotel and an Airport-Pick-up (15 US $). | 3
With the inevitable delays and endless queues to clear customs and immigration you would probably be out of the terminal building by 6:00 AM. By then the buses would have started to go. | 4
Hmmm. Good point. | 5 | |
May be its a good point, may be not. and ... we missed all this horrible taxi drivers! | 6
we got out of the airport quickly arriving at a similar time - plenty of taxi's available or most hotels will pick you up - I'd recommend a hotel reservation so you dont have to go round multiple hotels (as we did once) | 7
