Penjikent to Bishkek

Country forums / Central Asia

How would you travel to Bishkek from Penjikent? I understand that I can take a shared taxi to Batken and fly to Bishkek from Batken (with Tez Airways? Is that the only airline?), but I thought of asking if there were other ways to get to Bishkek by air/road/train.

Thank you :)

Do you want to reach Bishkek as soon as possible or do you want to visit on the way ?
Do you want a "direct road" or not ?
Do you want to leave Tajikistan by the Sughd or not ?
Pamirs or not ?

Do you want to pass through Uzbekistan or not ?

Train is not an option.

Hey Michel, I'd like to reach Bishkek as soon as possible, preferably by land, but I could take a flight. I'm going to get an evisa to Uzbekistan (Indian passport). I'll have to see if a multiple entry Evisa is easy to get. What are my options in either case?

Is there a direct road? I don't really want to visit any other place on the way. Pamirs some other time. I want to go hiking in Kyrgyzstan :)

I don't mind leaving Tajkistan through the Sughd if that's easier.

I have doubts about flights from Penjikent without passing through Dushanbe.
The best option is to use a shared taxi to Khojand where you will use another one (or a marshrutka) to Isfara.
There, you have Kyrgyz shared taxis (mainly Audi 100) to Batken and finally Osh. I think you need to change at Batken but from Isfara, you have many cars to Batken. I haven't seen any car labelled to Osh.
The Kyrgyz drivers will avoid the Uzbek enclaves on the way to Batken-Osh.

As soon as you reach Osh, you have two options.
Shared taxis to Bishkek, one full day of travel or flying to Bishkek.
You can't reach Bishkek in one day from Penjikent.

The more direct road will be this one but it's not a real direct one.
You are in Central Asia in a valley shared between three countries.
Complicated to manage as traveller...

Thanks, Michel! I'll fly to Bishkek from Osh. How long do you think Penjikent to Osh or Penjikent to Isfara will take by shared taxi? There's an airline called Tez Jet that flies between Batken and Bishkek. I'm going to look into that too.

I visited Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan but it was always separated trips.
Penjikent to Isfara in less than one day but I'm not sure you will have a lot of departure in the afternoon...
I mean from Isfara to Batken because you will use a shared taxi.
If you are agree to use one as contracted or at least to pay for the "missing places", it will be much more easy.
Then for the all trip, I think three days or at least two and half...

Regarding the flights, I can't help you at all.
