Pamir in August

Heading from Astana to Tashkent in late July and August. I want a decent trip no more than a week on the Pamir Highway. Any suggestions for a good value trip from Osh to Dushanbe on the Pamir for a solo traveller? Community Tourism? Turn up and find some travel companions? Hitchhike?! Thanks!

If you only have one week, you'll need a private 4WD to see interesting places such as Wakhan Valley and Geisev. Public 4WDs and hitchhiking are for people who have time.
