Pamir Highway Guide

I am looking to travel to the Pamirs for 7-10 days in March/April. It would be great if anyone could recommend a local guide/tour company probably based in Dashanbe

Hi I traveled in the region in Dec 2012 and planning on returning with my wife this March. I would recommend Hamsafar travel. He speaks English (educated in Britian) and runs a alot of great game tours during the summer in the Pamir region. His email is ruslannuriloev@yahoo.com He also has a guest house on the edge of the market that is $20 USD. This spring my wife and I will be doing ski touring hopefully up the Bartung valley conditions allowing. You can tell him of he asks that Nathan recommended you in case he is wondering why I gave his contact info.

If you are travelling the Pamir Highway, its useful to get a guide who is local to the tougest parts of the journey out in the Eastern Pamir. Check out the META website (www.meta.tj) for possibilities and other useful information and reference sites. You should also look at www.tajiktourism.com.

Last point - watch out for the weather conditions at this the time of year that you want to travel. Some of the high passes may still be closed but a local guide will know the 'on the ground' situation.
