Mobile phone network extended in parts of Eastern Pamir

Over the winter of 2011/12 mobile phone masts were installed in many of the villages in the Eastern Pamir and over this last winter the masts have finally come into operation.

Currently only the users of the Megafon mobile network can benefit from this service but this is clearly a great step forward and really improves communications for tourists to the region.

Just coming back from Tajikistan since a little more than a week, I can confirm that Megafon is one of the best option for the country. Good coverage and very good quality of the connection.

Very cheap if you want to phone abroad (it was when I phoned in Belgium but always each time after 9 PM)
