Need some advice on Kyrgyz visa from folks who have had recent experience:
(1) True that Kyrgyz visa can be issued at the Bishkek airport upon arrival without letter of invitation?
(for USA citizens?)
(2) Is this visa single-entry only? Interested in travel via Torugart to Kashgar, then
back into Kyrgyzstan to Osh via Irkeshtam. Do I need another Kyrgyz visa?
(3) Is early October too cold for hiking/trekking in Karakol/above Issyk-Kul
Thanks for the help!

1) yes - no trouble involved at all
2) Single entry only, a second visa would have to be done after arriving in Bishkek, you could ask how to do this when getting the original visa at the airport.
3) you would be cutting it close, the only issues would be that it would be cold, and there are no services, but the passes are not full of snow or other objective hazards. Early October is quite beautiful actually, but if you hit the wrong day it could be a bitter windy day with some snow, or the right day could be perfect sunshine. I would suggest planning on trekking, but watching the sky.
gart

If you will go to Karakol in early october, take some warm war, raincoat, etc.
