Ishkashim border crossing

Does anyone know if the Ishkashim border crossing with Afghanistan is open ?

Note that it will be open - unless something unforeseen happens, which can happen fast...

A friend of my where stuck in the Afghan side in August after the Afghan consul in Khorog had been attacked and they closed the border.. To get out he had to pay a 60$ "fine" (read: bribe)...

But don't consider this as a suggestion not to go.. Just bring a load of "emergency dollars" :)

I wanted to make sure it was open as I knew there were problems last summer, and this website (which is presumably out of date) says the border is closed:-

Hi, I would like to ask about some actual info:
- is Ishkashim border open (as information on tajiktourism website is still "closed"...)
- is Afghan conculate in Khorog open (and is it still possible to get visa there?)
- security situation in Wakhan as good as years before?
