Good tourist map of AndijonCountry forums / Central Asia / Uzbekistan
Hello, I am an American archaeology student studying Central Asian cities along the Silk Road. I am looking for a good map of Ferghana Valley and possibly a tourist or city map of Andijon for research sources. Please let me know if anyone knows where to attain these. I will gladly pay for them if needed. Thanks, Darin

Thanks for the posted map.....is Andijon tourist map available or should I just give up? I have looked everywhere and even contacted tour agencies in Uzbekistan. The place seems so taboo since the events of 2005. Its very hard for a student to get any info about the archaeology sites and modern city. Thank again. | 2

E. V. Cartographic sells a scanned Soviet Military City Plan of Andijon/Andizhan from 1981. The scale is 1:25.000. A bit expensive, but probably the most detailed plan available for sale at the moment. Do tell me if you have bought it, maybe I would like to have a look at it as well. ;-) The 200k Soviet military map for Adijon is here: http://download.maps.vlasenko.net/smtm200/k-43-25.jpg | 4
It might be of surprise, as it's not the most traditional method, but you can map out areas using Google Earth. I looked up Andijon and the surrounding Ferghana Valley. It provided a clear image of the city layout. But it doesn't mark off individual locations as you may need in your research, though you can keep this suggestion in mind for future endeavors on Central Asia. Also, if you can read the Cyrillic script or have any background in Russian, it's possible to translate some of the words for the photo captions to have an idea of what you may be looking at. It's not as difficult as it sounds, sometimes I find words from both languages that are generically alike. | 5
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am really looking for the current Uzbek names of places ...since most locale names have changed since 1991. I looked at the Russian 1981 map and don't believe it will help much for the money to buy it. I was able to get excellent current tourist maps of Termiz, Samarkand, and SahkriSabz and was hoping to get one of Andijon too....but I guess one does not exist. I guess wikimapia and google earth will have to do! | 6
Hi, A town map of Andijon at the scale of 1:20 000 (Andijon Shahar Plani) was published in 2011 by O'zbekiston Respublikasi Yer Resurslari, Geodeziya, Kartografiya va Davlat Kadastri Davlat Qoʻmitasi (Uzbek National Mapping Agency). Best regards from Poland Michal Okonek | 7
