Hi guys,

I'm planning a trip through Central Asia this summer, starting in Tashkent. My itinerary is something like this: Tashkent- Khiva-Bukhara-Samarkand-Panjakent-Dushanbe-Pamir highway-Osh-Bishkek. From there, my plan is to fly to Iran....

....Does anyone have any reliable information or experience flying from Bishkek to Theran, or should I rather fly from Tashkent (or maybe Almaty)?

Thanks for you answers!

I don't know about direct flights from Bishkek to Teheran. Iran Air flies out of Tashkent and Mahan Air flies out of Almaty but any of the routes is daily so take a look at the schedule and plan accordingly.

Well, you can fly out of Bishkek changing planes in a third airport.

Hey,

The reason I'm asking this is that flying from Bishkek would save me a needless trip back to Tashkent ....but I didn't really find any (reliable) information about Bishkek.

Thanks for you answer anyway!

Iran Aseman Airlins flies Bishkek to Mashad and Tehran, don't think that there is a way to book their flights online you'll probably have to visit their Bishkek office when you get there.
The cheapest option available to book online seems to be Aeroflot via Moscow at £350.
China southern, BMI and Turkish all also fly via their respective hubs.

It appears that a Kyrgyz carrier, Avia Traffic Company, flies to Mashhad. Of course, all KG airlines fail international air safety standards but don't let that put you off. :)

I suggest you contact Kyrgyz Concept for advice. KC runs very well-equipped, English-speaking offices and has access to some airline reservation systems (e.g. Tajik Air) that are simply not available to other aвиа касса services.

Thanks Emmef!!

The thing is that I found Avia Traffic Company on the net before, but I didn't find any further reliable information on them :) Do you have any experiences with them??

I'll definetly contact KC....

Can you confirm it? Can you provide more details about that flight (days of the week, schedule...)? I was on the web of that airline and I didn't find it.

I forgot to take a look at that airline. It seems they fly from Bishkek to Mashad once a week. More info on their web (use an online translator if you can't understand it).

Edited: typed at the same time that the previous post. I'll keep the second part of this post as the link to the web of the air company can be useful for other travelers.

I've never used ATC, no. But a quick google search doesn't reveal any accounts of disasters involving the airline.

However, I have flown with KG's Itek Air, which lost a third of its fleet in a crash just after take-off from Manas in 2008 and killed 68 of the 90 peple on board. That flight was operating under charter as Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 6895, which might explain both why there are historical references to the Iranian airline flying to/from Bishkek and why they no longer operate. This incident is counted, quite unfairly I think, in Iran Aseman's overall flying record.

Needless to say, my own experience with Itek Air was much happier.

Look for Бишкек (Bishkek) – Мешхед (Mashhad) when researching flights on the ATC website.
