Experiences with ex-Great Game Travel/Hamsafar GH?

Country forums / Central Asia / Tajikistan

Hi, all!
Is the Hamsafar Travel (ex-Great Game) Guesthouse in Dushanbe still operating/what are peoples' experiences?

Nice place, great bathrooms and has cooking facilities.. Emails seem to never each them, so call directly. There's always someone there to answer calls and take bookings. If there's no space, they'll provide a tent for you to sleep in their front yard/garden.

Its still operatating and the owner and staff are really very friendly and helpful.

There hasn't been much maintenance done in the last couple of years and its starting to feel slighly scruffy - but its still a great place to stay in Dushanbe.

I was told 25 USD for a single with breakfast, 20 USD without breakfast. I didn't inquire about the price for a double. Camping in the yard, whether you use their tent or your own was 5 USD a person.

The staff was really nice there and the Wifi usually reliable.

Where s this guesthouse located (adress info)? Easy to reach or not? Thanks.

Not easy to find. Just on the edge of the LP map of Dushanbe.

On foot the easiest way is the small footbridge behind the American Ambassadors residence.

On the main road - it is behind the bazaar at Vadanasos, over the water pipe, there is a Karaoke bar on the left with a bamboo screen round it. Go left after this and then left again!

Very easy to get lost.

babahi no.6 is quite correct about prices for 2011. The figures I gave were wrong.

Cheers
Ash
