Hi

I am currently in Uzbekistan with my Toyota 4x4. In late September I plan to cross Afghanistan in order to get to Iran. My plan is to enter at Ishkasim, drive south to Charikar then west to Herat through the Hazarajat before entering Iran at Islam Qala.

I am aware that the security situation is deteriorating at present, so I would like a local guide. Can anyone help me arrange one. Does anyone know some safe places to stay at night along the route?

I am willing to adapt my route to avoid the most dangerous areas, so any suggestions on this would be welcome too.
