Apply Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan VISAs in Almaty

Country forums / Central Asia / Kyrgyzstan

I just apply my Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan VISAs and get them on the same day.

The Kyrgyz consulate location is the same as LP 2006 edition. It's beside the road without pavement and unlike a office.
Follow the LP advice and show up earlier about 09:30 AM.
There is a guard equipped a out-of-data gun will open the door and lead the people to a small space beside the building.
Remember your order although the guard arrange that. Some people always try to get in front of you.
When it's your turn, you will get into the samll room with dim light.
According to a post about 2 months ago posted here (07/22, by eupilgrim), the cost is 150USD for EXPRESS, twice-entry, one month tourist VISA
and the consul will pretend everyone applies Express, he won't tell you the other choice if you don't ask.
A Netherlander was prior to me and get that answer and was told that he has to wait one week if he didn't apply Express.
OK, so far, it's quite the same as I know.
I can not wait so long because I have a fixed tour in Kyrgyzstan so I paid the money.
The officer looks ignore my LOI, he gave that back to me and ask me the duration I wish.
5 mins later I got my VISA! He just wrote the name, date, passport number...etc., and signed and stamped.
Out of my expectation!!!
But the cost is too expensive for the Netherlander prior to me and a Spanish couple after me.
When they left the consulate, they said they ask the officer for sure again is it really one hundred fif"ty" or fif"teen".
He answered fif"teen"!!!!
What??

yeah the consul's English is bad but I don't think he misakes that.
Or maybe the price is decided by negotiation between seller and buyer like in the market?
Depand on who has stronger demand of this VISA/money?

I guess there is not any kind of legal process about that, if you pay the money, you can get it successfully, that's all!
We paid him dirrectly! Not via bank account!
It means he can ask some extra money for his tribute before he deposits it (for us) to the bank?
Anyhow, it's like kind of blackmail.
Yes I got my visa soonly, but the feeling is bad.

In the afternoon, I went to Uzbeki consulate for my another visa.
Yes, the situation is the same as the article I read here (07/19, also by eqpilgrim).
The consul asked me many questions about the cities I'll visited and why I apply twice-entry.
But basically it's still not hard to get your visa as long as you prepare all the documents.
Remember to prepare the hard copies of your passport and Kazakh VISA, they want that.

But the consule made a mistake on my VISA. He typed "one"-entry except "two".
I told him and he corrected it by cross "one" and wrote "two" above. With his note above the VISA, two signatures and two stamps on the edge of the VISA.
I'm a little worried about that even the consul said it's fine, that's a standard correction method.
But I am not confident on these central-asia countries officer......
The cost is the same as LP. The consul didn't ask me the other price like the post said.
One month, twice-entry visa costs 75+10=85USD (The post by eqpligrim said he was asked 120USD initially.)

Although the result is I got my visas on the same day, either Kyrgyz or Uzbeki consulates, I didn't see any efficient, standard process.

Hope this helpful to you.
