I'm planning my trip to Central and the itinerary is as follows:-
Tashkent-Smarkand-Bukhara-
Dushanbe-Khorog-Pamir Highway-Qolma Pass - Kashgar OR
-Osh - Irkeshtam- Kashgar
About the visa issue:
1) It shoud be possible to get a Uzbekistan visa arrival at the Tashkent airport. Some said it's only valid for those whose countries have no Uzbek embassy. And some even said the country refers not to the one you are in residence but the one where your plane comes from... could anyone…

I'm currently in Dushanbe and am planning to head East into the Pamirs (Khorog, Wakhan, Murghab etc.) either tomorrow, the 27'th or the day after. Does anyone have a similar itinerary who'd be interested in sharing the transport cost?
If I can't find other people to split the cost with I'll try hitching from Dushanbe to Khorog. Does anyone have any experience doing this who can offer advice such as where to do the hitching out of Dushanbe and how tough/easy/ it is to find vehicles?

can any one of you recommend an accommodation option in Dushanbe that can also take care of the OVIR registration when staying there for one night? (I need to register because I'm not on a tourist visa, but on a 30 days plus visa.)

A friend and I will be travelling this route in the next two weeks. I have a few questions regarding costs and itenerary.
(1) We were thinking about spending a day around Khorog, possibly going to Bogev. Then we would go to Ishkashim to see the cross-border market and overnight there. The following (third) day we would travel as far as Lyangar or somewhere thereabouts. The fourth day would be to spent getting to Bulunkul. The sixth would get us to Murgab. I am wondering whether the Kulma/ Qulma pass between Tajikistan and China is officially in use and open for foreigners crossing?
Media says so, but I am still suspicious if it is really open for tourists.

Does anybody know if it is possible to travel freely to the Zorkul lake in the Pamirs and then go to Murgab from there, without any tricky permits?
Would that road be OK for bycicles?
