Hi all,
I'm planning a trip along the Pamir Highway in early October ending in Kashgar on Monday 17th October for a flight home.
I've read that the Irkeshtam pass is not open on weekends nor on national holidays (so most of the first week of October), so my options appear to be to cross on Friday afternoon (14th) and spend a few days in Kashgar, or Monday morning (17th) for an afternoon flight. Does this seem a bit risky?
Have I overlooked any other issues such as closure of the Krgyz / Tajik border at any point, or the likelihood of snow?
Also, if I arrive in Dushanbe on 1st October will this give me enough time? I will be travelling by a combination of public transport where available and private / hitchhiking where not.
Many thanks for any advice offered.
