Hey travel-buddies. I am staying now in Dushanbe after fantastic trip trough the Pamir and Northern Tajikistan. Yesterday i went early at the airport to book a ticket for the flight DUSHANBE-KHOROG, but the ladies at the airport told me that all the flights to Khorog are stopped.. I could not believe that so i called the agency of Tajik Air in Dushanbe, and also they confirmed me that all there is not anymore flightservice to Khorog airport from Dushanbe.

Did you hear about that too?
I still cant believe that, thats why i post here.
In the Pamirs i met 2 guys who told me that they had a flight to Khorog...

Yes that is true mate we were told the same story no more flights Dushanbe to Khorog..as the route seems not profitable for Tajikistan Airways...which is really a pity

Howdy Guys,

I confirm there are currently no flights. However, a friend told me they will resume after two weeks. I don't know if this is true, but it is what I was told.

Important to remeber that things change very quickly in Central Asia and that definately no flights means - definately no flights at this exact moment in time. My understanding is that there are some technical issues which are stopping the flights at the moment, rather than a commercial decision to cancel the route.

I was recently standing in the airport in Khorog and told there would definately be no flights - walked outside to arrange a taxi and a plane promptly landed - we all trapsed back inside and were able to get tickets for a flight. That was 12th July and I don't think there have been any flights since then. However they could start up just a suddenly as they stop.

May they told you there are no flights because of the weather, which is most time the reason why there are no flights between Khorog and Dushanbe. And weather changes very quick in Pamir as we know. It doesnt seems to be a question of technical issue as the guys from Tajik airline told me, it is not just a stop of flights for 1 day, when i tried to get the ticket it was already stopped and also the days after when i tried to find out information about this route. No flights anymore. Things change quickly in Central Asia as any traveller knows, but as mikeylikesbikes wrote it seems to be a question of business.

From Asia Plus today. They are generally on top of things. They reported on the 22nd July that flights were suspended for commercial reasons. But they are hoping for a solution.

Just to update the flight situation - flight is back on - though of course subject to the usual cancellations due to weather etc.

Tajik Air says the Dushanbe-Khorog flight was resumed on July 25. “We resumed the flight in order to relieve social tension. Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with suspension of the flight and we could not leave our passengers.”

Actually they have resumed the flight because the landing fees at the airport have now been waived! But either way it appear to be back on.
