Hi all,

the last informations I have in this forum about this issue is that Kyzyl-Art Pass border is opened only from Tajikistan into Kyrgyzstan, not the opposite way, is this situation still the same?

Also, I would like someone to confirm me if the border from Dushanbe thru Garm into Kyrgyzstan is opened now.

Last, what about eternally closed Qolma Pass with China, has this changed recently?

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Iker

There were one or two press reports that the pass is now open to foreigners, but you'll have to go there yourself to find out if that's true. It's very remote, so don't expect to find transport waiting for you there.

I heard that the border through Garm is now open for foreigners.

Thanks a lot, and anything about Kyzyl-Art Pass, is this opened again now? That's my main concern, ;-))

Here's a post detailing one foreigner's trip from Dushanbe-Osh via Jirgatol - [http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=2234729]

I'm in Osh in Kyrgyzstan right now. The border to go to Tajikistan is still close. There is a rumor here that an important meeting should take place on monday the 20th of august and that they would must likely decide to reopen the border Kyzyl-Art to enter Tajikistan for foreigners. Of course, there is nothing certain about that.
Otherwise I met a few people coming from the Pamir Highway. They discribe the situation as being ok but rather tense.
