I'll be in Kyrgyzstan in AUgust for two weeks and I'm looking for good places to go mountainbiking. I'm mostely interested in one-day or two-day tours, I also need to rent a bike.
I'm in a good shape, but it should not be too extrem :)
I'll mostely be in the north of the country.

We are a couple spending 2 weeks in August in Kyrgystan. I'm actually trying to plan the trip.
What would be the best option:
1 -BISHKEK => ALMATY => CHARYN CANYON => KARAKOL
or
2-BISHKEK => KARAKOL by the Issyk Kol lake?
Knowing that after that we plan to make the classic Kochkor and Song Kol lake.
How many days would it take to make the 1st trip? 3/4 days?

I'm planning to cross the Torugart to Kashgar on Monday 11th August and looking for people to share the cost. I will be coming from Naryn, but happy to split with those coming from Bishkek. Ideally I'd be looking to spend the night at Tash Rabat on the Sunday night as I've always wanted to see it, then cross early the following morning, but I'm flexible! Im flying to Bishkek next week, either the 21st or the 23rd. If it‘s the 23rd the arrival time would be 3:10 am and Im thinking since this will probably be a lost day I might head straight to Almaty. Id fly except the only flight I see dep. FRU at 7:55 pm and thats too late. So if I take an early morning bus from FRU into Bishkek proper, does it pass close to the staging area for the buses (or would they be share taxis?) to Almaty?

Just wondering if anyone has experience trekking in the Osh/Alay area? We are planning on going mid-September - any ideas what temperatures will be like in the mountains at that time? Trying to decide what sort of sleeping bag will be necessary... Also, we are thinking of organising something with CBT Osh - they have a number of treks on their sites - but prices aren't clear... We're hoping to trek for ~5 days - can anyone offer a rough guide of how much that's likely to cost? And more…

I am planning to travel from Kashgar to Osh in late August 2014, stopping in Sary Tash. Can you please help with information on the following:
1)Is a shared taxi still the cheapest way from Kashgar to the Kygyz border? Any problems experienced recently on this route on the Chinese side?
2)I will be arriving in Sary Tash with Chinese RMB & US dollars as cash. Are these currencies accepted in Kyrgyzstan and if not, is there a way to exchange money in Sary Tash?

What is the best way (most beautiful one) to visit Song-Köl by horse: from Naryn/Kurtka or from Kochkor? Or is it possible to start in Kochkor and end in Kurtka in a 2/3 day horse trek?

we are two italian ladies and we're going to Kyrgystan & Uzbekistn from 13th of August till mid September.
We are planning to do some trekking in Karakol region: has anyboby information about how to do it? Is it possible on our ones or is it necessary to book a tour? Is anybody going & interested in sharing this experience with us? It will be around 15th of July.

in September my wife and me want to travel for 2 weeks to Kyrgyzstan. We would like to rent a car for self driving. So far we have only found "Kyrgyz Rent Car Company". Do you know any other rental car companies? What was your experience?
