I'll be in Kyrgyzstan for business, but I have about a week to travel around in early April. I know the weather will still be cold. What would you recommend as must see and still doable in a week or so?

Thanks.

Cold? It's pretty warm here now! I got sunburnt today, but then I am British. It was around 15 C today and is supposed to be 20 C tomorrow (Bishkek).

I've loved hanging out in Bishkek and its surroundings, but that's more from a relaxing point of view. There are a lot of leftover communist monuments/building/parks/museums that are interesting to see, if you're into that kind of thing. And good mountains for trekking (and skiing if you're lucky, but Karakol in the east is better for that).

Also, the road from Osh to Bishkek (or vice versa) is really stunning. And of course Issy Kol (the huge lake).

Yes, it is possible to short day trekking in Kyrgyzstan in the early ApriI, but it is especialy good to do in the south since it is bit warmer that north. it is possible to do 2-3 day trekking with overnights in tent around osh in the early April. you can visit my blog for short day trekking pgrograms and photos around Osh. no yurt on the mountains as they are on photos. www.cbtalayblog.blogpot.com
