Hi,

I am travelling with a couple of friends to Kyrgyzstan this August. We're really into trekking and exploring this vast and relatively undiscovered country.

As we are going to be there for around 4 weeks we wanted to get involved with any sort of volunteer or charity work of any kind. Does anyone know any organisations or charities that might need the help of 3 enthusiastic, young, native English speakers?

Cheers

Seb

Marat/Ainsan is a great resource here, and also has a unique sense of humor...

I'd suggest you contact the folks at Community Based Tourism Kyrgyzstan. They know about the several NGO who operate in the various areas you'll be visiting.

There are more than 200 NGOs operating in Kyrgyzstan today.

If you get to Talas, in the northwest, there is a wonderful woman who teaches English at the school. She has had Peace Corps volunteers in the past, who helped with her English teaching.
