we are a couple visiting centra Asia in early August. We will be crossing the Torugart pass down to Kashgar on 4.8. or 5.8. We have transport arranged till the border but would like to share the costs of getting car on the Chinese side. They are quoting us around 220USD/person.
Does anyone know of a contact person/agency that could arrange it for cheaper or is anyone heading in the same direction to share the costs?
Hi! Who is quoting that price? Normally the quote is for the whole vehicle (accommodating 3-4 people) not per person.
I have to cross Torugart no later than July 31 or I'd join you. I was quoted $510 by Novinomad and I think $420 by Kubat Tours in Naryn.
Hi, I was quoted similar prices (~400USD/car) from 4-5 different agencies. I then got in touch with a Kyrgyz company Novinomad (who in fact use this chinese agency: http://www.newlandtravel.net/) and they quoted us 250USD for two people in a 5 seat car. My assumption is that there will be other people in the car - which I am totally fine with..
Perhaps you can ask them if they could hook you up with other travellers too.

I think you can find cheaper from from kubat or CBT Naryn. If you share the cost with other travellers, it will be much cheaper. Please check Old Road Tours in China side, they will offer much lower prices now. They have clients everyday from Kashgar to Torugat. So,you can get much lower prices then any others. Good Luck.
