Hiya

I am quoting from guidebooks:

1) Bradt: in early summer there is usually a well-attended horse festival held i the valley....

2) LP: Summer's end brings the Shepherd's Festival, an annual gathering of cowboys and herders at the end of August. Horseback games and eagle hunting are held at the yurt camps near Char-Kuduk village.

I would be grateful if anyone can shed lights on these events. More importantly are the dates (when in August 2014??) of this year's Shephaerd's Festival as I am due to arrive Urumqi (China) in a couple of days' time and would naturally like to attend it.

Cheerio!

From the OP:

Visited Karkara Valley in early Sep 2014 and nothing happened there. I spent the National Day 31 Aug at Ala-Too Square in Bishkek. There were spectacular folk dances and music. The President gave a long speech too. Though someone attended the horse-game show at the Hippodrome which is said to be even better.
